Where do I get the torrent file from mac-torrents?

I know this sucks but we have to pay the bills and most ads don’t make much, so when you want to download a torrent from this site just click the title of the file and not the green button the button is a paid ad.

You will get your .torrent file and you can start downloading.

How do I download files using BitTorrent?

  1. Download and install a BitTorrent client.
  2. Click on a torrent (Click the title of the file not the button)from mac-torrents and select open file.
  3. Your BitTorrent client should open up and ask you where you would like to save your download.

Where can I get a BitTorrent Client?

What is a tracker?

A server on the internet that acts to coordinate the actions of BitTorrent clients. When you open a torrent, your machine contacts the tracker and asks for a list of peers to connect to.

What is a seed?

A seed is a client that has a complete copy of the data from the torrent. Once you have completed downloading a torrent you also become a seeder.

What is a leech?

A leech is a client that is in the process of downloading a torrent. Once the client has the complete file they become a seed.

How do I create and Upload a torrent to Mac-Torrents?

First you need to create the .torrent file, I suggest using transmission, utorrent or deluge to create your torrents as they all have that feature.

For this example I am using transmission, click file then create torrent file. Then you will have to choose the file or folder you want to share (make sure the file is located in the download dir of your torrent program so that it will seed).

After selecting the files you wish you share you will be asked for the tracker announce url, use one of the following:



Press create to generate the .torrent file, the .torrent file should then load in transmission and be seeding. You can then surf to to upload your newly created torrent(you will need to login and be an approved uploader) also please be sure to name your torrent appropriately to it is easily identified and add any comments that are necessary.

How do I extract scene files? (RARS inside of Zips)

Option A:

  1. Download and install our app SceneArch v1.1.13
  2. Make a shortcut to it in the launchpad
  3. Drag&drop any Zip or Rar files on the shortcut
  4. The app will extract all the files in a new folder
  5. Open the new folder
  6. Repeat the process until everything has been extracted.

Option B:

  • Open the terminal (CLI)
  • Install Brew **DO THIS ONLY THE FIRST TIME** ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL”
  • Install Unrar **DO THIS ONLY THE FIRST TIME** brew install unrar
  • Change directory to where you downloaded the torrent ie. cd /Users/Jeff/Downloads/Torrent/Bob.Came.In.Pieces.v1.5.MacOSX-WaLMaRT
  • To unzip files, use this: unzip -u -o \*.zip
  • To unrar files, use this: unrar e -y first_rar_file.rar
  • Repeat the process until everything has been extracted.

What to do with .rar, .r01, .r02 files?

These are RAR archive files, which is just a compression type similar to .zip but just split up into many files. You need to install a program like RAR expander to extract the contents.

What to do with .dmg, and .iso, files?

These are cd image files that can either be burned onto CD or DVD or extracted to your hard drive.
